Common Estate
Wigan Football 2014
One of the many happy kids from the project we have had running at St, Georges playing fields in Earlestown in conjunction with Wigan Athletic in the community. Ignite! North West Community organisers supported and organised this project for 10 weeks, over this period of time we engaged over 40 participants and will be taking some of them to watch Wigan football club play at home in December. "There was a lot of hard work went into making this project succeed and the feedback from the kids was that they absolutely loved it and wished it could carry on"- Gary Weir & Paul Mangan, Trainee Community Organisers.
STAND UP TO STIGMA
A great project that uses comedy to tackle mental health stigma and discrimination in St Helens.
St, Helens Pals
The book of the St. Helens Pals, 11th (Service) Bn. South Lancashire Regiment (St. Helens Pioneers) in the Great War
"Gary Weir, and his sons, first joined with The St Helens Pals Project, when we worked together alongside 'Friends of the Cemetery' at their big event in August: by giving out leaflets advertising our big event in September. They were part of our highly successful book launch at The Volunteer Hall on 8th September, experiencing an exhibition and display of materials used in publishing the book. Since then Gary and his son ??? have helped by taking books to the World of Glass, to support their exhibition concerning WW1 Posters. More recently I have also supported that exhibition by taking part in an interview to be aired by the BBC News."
Thank you to Ignite Northwest for providing these volunteers to assist with these massive projects.

Youth Club
"Great to see that things are going so well at the Friday night youth club we set up for the 11 to 13 year old's we have been getting a great turn out and its refreshing to see the kids enjoying sports like basketball ,table tennis, football and loads of other activities like face painting, nails and the main thing is that all the kids are in a safe environment and doing the right things. We recently got one of my volunteers, Mr Allan Marsden, who has Parkinson's, to help make a wishing well in remembrance of world war 1 with the kids which now stands proudly outside Newton Boys & Girls club."

Starfish Comedy Club! A project born out of a listening with Earlestown resident John Richards and supported by Common Estate Community Organisers Gary and Paul. Here we are at the opening night of the club with our community organisers logos proudly in the background. Well done John you are a star!
Gary and Paul have moved now from the common estate to the Derby Hill area of Parr. We both intend to maintain the contacts and close links we have made and will continue to support the projects already in place
