9 months of hard work...
Listening to what residents like, are concerned about and what their dreams are for the future of their community started this project. Senior, trainee and voluntary community organisers have been door knocking in rain, snow and sun just to find out what the community really care about, this bridge was the most common project idea that came from listening to the people of Newton and Earlestown. Planning, funding bid writing, consultation, workshops, painting and organising followed.
A big thanks to Limitless Urban Arts, Newton le Willows community organisers, Creative Frame, Merseyside Fire and Rescue and funding organisations(Community First and Ignite! North West cic). More importantly those who volunteered their time through a variety of different ways.

'Your Voice’ is a brand new project by Take A Hint Theatre Company, and funded by the Big Lottery Fund, with the aim of engaging young people across Merseyside. Our mission is to give young people a voice on particular social and political issues that affect their lives in their community. To do this, we will be working with young people in seven areas of Merseyside, to create performance and art that gives their chosen issue a platform to be heard. Whether it be through music, art, film, drama, dance... we will ensure that the performances created will be seen by important partners in their community such as members of the council and emergency services.
" Your voice project in partnership with Ignite! North West CIC, Take a hint and Newton Boys and Girls club really showed how partnership working can really facilitate a project and maximise its full potential. Between us we engaged 15+ volunteers, 30+ participants, 3 organisations, provided a structured activity for children over 8 weeks, and more importantly listened to the children and gave them a voice in a creative way. Ignite would like to thank Dan, Lucie and Sally from Take a Hint Theatre Company, it was an amazing experience." |
Ignite! North West CiC in partnership with Latics in the community provided football for local children in Newton and Earlestown. Every Tuesday and Wednesday evening from August to October over 220 children engaged in our project for free. A big thanks to our trainee organisers who facilitated this and the funding organisation Community First. Wigan T-shirts where provided to the participants and a trip to watch Wigan play in the Championship.
